1st Ramazan: Stringent security arrangements across Punjab

Over 83,000 police officers, personnel deployed on security duty On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, Punjab Police have ensured comprehensive and strict security arrangements across the province on the occasion of 1st Ramazan-ul-Mubarak. Punjab Police spokesperson while sharing details, said that all available resources are being utilized to provide security to more than 32,000 mosques, over 2,000 imambargahs, and more than 500 minority places of worship across the province, including Lahore. Under the security plan, more than 83,000 police officers, personnel, and community volunteers have been deployed at mosques, imambargahs, and other religious sites. In the provincial capital Lahore, more than 18,000 officers, personnel, and community volunteers are performing security duties at mosques, imambargahs, and markets. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that checking at sensitive mosques and imambargahs is being conducted through walk-through gates and metal detectors, while search and sweep operations are also underway around religious and other important locations. Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem has directed the police to keep a strict vigil on anti-state elements and further strengthen security at mosques, imambargahs, and all other key locations. He appealed to religious scholars and spiritual leaders to promote interfaith harmony, brotherhood, and peace from the mosques. IG Punjab said that during Sehri, Iftar, and Taraweeh timings, Dolphin Squad, PRU, and Elite teams should ensure effective patrolling around places of worship, while continuous monitoring of all activities be maintained with the help of Safe City Authority cameras. He directed RPOs and DPOs to personally review the security arrangements and remain in constant contact with mosque administrators and members of peace committees. Furthermore, lady police personnel have also been deployed in bazaars and markets to protect women from harassment. IG Punjab further said that with the cooperation of citizens, Punjab Police will ensure the peaceful observance of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak and the timely suppression of miscreant elements.
