Allied School, American Lyceum among 59 sealed in Punjab capital

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 59 illegal commercial buildings and the premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in Lahore’s various housing schemes on Monday. LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 20 buildings in Gulberg and Faisal Town, 22 in Gulshan-e-Ravi and Samanabad, and 17 in Allama Iqbal Town and Azam Gardens during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees. The sealed premises include Lahore School System, Allied School, American Lyceum, Pak Vision College, House of Wisdom, Clippers Salon, grocery stores, food outlets, offices, and other businesses. LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement and security teams with the assistance of the Police. According to LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings before the operations were carried out. LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against illegal commercial use and non-payment of commercialisation fees in Lahore’s housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas.
