ISLAMABAD – The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is the competent authority to issue Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) to citizens of Pakistan aged 18 and above. The identity cards serve as an essential proof of identity for citizens. The CNIC includes personal details, biometric information, and a unique ID number, facilitating access to government services, voting, and various legal processes within the country. It is mandatory for Pakistani citizens to visit any nearby Nadra centre to apply for their first CNIC upon reaching the age of 18 in order to avoid any problems in future. No Fee for First NADRA CNIC The registration authority has announced that citizens applying for their first-ever national identity card can now obtain it for free. The initiative allows individuals to receive their first non-smart chip identity card at no cost, simply by visiting a NADRA center. Citizens can get their cards within 15 days without any fees. However, for an Urgent category, the timeline is 12 days, and the cost is Rs1,150. For an Executive category, the timeline is 6 days, and the cost is Rs2,150. Online Appointment It has introduced a new feature allowing citizens to book appointments for services at NADRA centers across the country through the Pak ID mobile app. With this new service, individuals can easily schedule their appointments from the comfort of their homes. To ensure smooth processing, NADRA advises customers to arrive at the center at least 10 minutes before their scheduled appointment time, ensuring priority processing.
