Conducive weather conditions for safe kite flying await citizens in Lahore during the three-day Basant Festival from February 6 to 8. Synoptic Situation: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a shallow westerly prevails over the western parts of Pakistan. It will start affecting the upper parts tonight. Continental air prevails over other parts of the country. Forecast: Under these conditions, cold and dry weather with clear skies is expected in Lahore on Friday and Saturday, February 6 and 7. On Sunday, February 8, partly cloudy weather with cold and dry conditions is expected in the Punjab capital. Light westerly and northwesterly winds will likely blow between 10 km/hr and 15 km/hr. These conditions are quite suitable for safe kite flying during Basant 2026. Temperatures: Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 07°C and 09°C on Friday and between 06°C and 08°C on Saturday. Precautions: Kite flyers have been advised to exercise caution while flying kites, especially near electric lines and roads.
