ISLAMABAD – The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has announced a significant increase in its quarterly payments for eligible women beneficiaries amid arrival of Ramadan 2026. Under the new adjustment, the quarterly installment for women has been raised from Rs13,500 to Rs14,500, providing much-needed financial relief to low-income families across Pakistan. In addition to the increase in cash payments, BISP has also enhanced allowances under its educational initiatives and the Benazir Nashonuma Programme by Rs500. These steps aim to support both the immediate and long-term welfare of women and children, ensuring that families have additional resources for nutrition, education, and household needs during the upcoming religious month. The announcement was made in conjunction with a live e-court session held at the BISP headquarters in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Senator Rubina Khalid. During the session, the chairperson emphasized the importance of digital inclusion for women and urged those who had not yet obtained a free SIM card for their digital wallets to visit BISP offices immediately to collect it. These digital wallets allow beneficiaries to receive payments safely and conveniently, reducing the need for physical cash collection. The BISP officials highlighted that the increase in payments and allowances reflects the programme’s ongoing commitment to empowering vulnerable women and supporting households in need, particularly during periods of economic pressure or increased expenditure such as Ramadan. By providing timely financial assistance, BISP seeks to alleviate some of the economic burden faced by low-income families and ensure that women can meet their household and educational responsibilities without interruption. The adjustments in the BISP quarterly payments and allowances are expected to directly benefit thousands of women and children, reinforcing the programme’s role as a vital social safety net across Pakistan.
