LAHORE – The body of 10-month-old Rida Fatima, who tragically fell into a sewer near Data Darbar, has been recovered from the sewer line at Outfall Road, according to rescue officia In response to the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered immediate and strict action against the administration for its negligence and lack of oversight. Upon her return from Bhakkar, the Chief Minister convened an emergency meeting at the airport and directed an impartial fact-finding report to be submitted without delay. The preliminary investigation report has revealed that the mother, child, and father were seen shopping near Data Darbar at 6:47pm. They were observed at 7:22pm in front of Data Darbar, and at 7:30pm, the family was heading towards Old Parinda Market. At 7:32pm, a call was made to Rescue 1122 about the mother and child falling into the sewer. Rescue workers arrived at the scene within four minutes. The report also mentioned that the woman’s mother-in-law was seen calling for help, alerting bystanders. The body of the woman who fell into the sewer had already been recovered earlier, while rescue operations continued to locate the missing child. The Punjab government has vowed to take necessary action to address the incident and prevent such occurrences in the future.
