China assures full support to Iran amid rising tensions

BEIJING – China has reaffirmed its full support for Iran, backing Tehran’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity amid rising regional tensions. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi conveyed the assurance during a telephonic conversation with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi. Wang Yi stated that China supports Iran in defending its national sovereignty, security and geographical integrity. According to Chinese state media, Beijing stressed that Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected and underscored the importance of preventing further escalation in the region. A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry described the reported attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran as a violation of international law. The spokesperson expressed deep concern over the risk of the conflict expanding and urged all parties to immediately cease military operations. China reiterated its opposition to the use of force in international relations and called on all sides to exercise restraint to avoid further deterioration of the situation.
