CM Maryam launches 1,100 Green E-Taxis Scheme for men, women in Punjab

LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday launched the e-taxi scheme in Lahore, aimed at providing sustainable livelihood opportunities for men and women across the province. E-Taxis for Men and Women to Earn livelihood respectably CM Maryam Nawaz described e-taxis as “a respectable way of earning a livelihood” and handed over keys to successful candidates. She said, “A woman who wants to support her family can easily become a breadwinner. Single mothers and women already earning can also benefit from this initiative.” The CM referred to the earlier Green Buses initiative, which had set a nationwide example. She said the new Dedicated Green E-Taxis for men and women mark another historic step in Punjab’s public transport and entrepreneurship efforts. She announced that the government plans to introduce Green/Electric Buses in 148 tehsils and revealed the ongoing development of the Gujranwala Metro Bus Service. Highlighting the practicality of e-taxis, she said, “One full charge allows an e-taxi to run 300 kilometers, enabling drivers to earn up to Rs300,000 per month with minimal maintenance or fuel costs.” Pricing and Payment Plans for E-Taxis E-taxis are priced between Rs4.4 million and Rs8.5 million, with a 30 percent down payment requirement, allowing buyers to start their own businesses with Rs690,000. Special concessions and payment relaxations have been announced for women. 1,100 E-Taxis to hit Punjab roads CM Maryam Nawaz revealed that 1,100 e-taxis have been launched and will soon operate in Lahore and other cities, providing environmentally friendly transportation while creating income opportunities for thousands of families.
