Islamabad Deputy Commissioner and Director General Excise Irfan Nawaz Memon has extended the deadline for the mandatory installation of M-Tags on motorbikes in the federal capital. The decision was made in response to public demand and to facilitate citizens. The previous deadline is set to end today (February 28). DG Excise Memon has announced an extension of the deadline for motorcycle owners to enter M-Tag system until March 5, 2026. He urged citizens to complete the installation of M-Tags on their motorcycles before the new deadline to avoid any legal action. “We encourage all motorbike owners to ensure they get their M-Tags installed by March 5 to comply with the law and avoid fines or penalties,” he said. In light of the approaching holy month of Ramadan, the operating hours of M-Tag centers have been revised. Various centers will now operate in shifts of 24, 12, and 8 hours, ensuring convenience for the citizens during the holy month. According to official data, 8,928 motorbikes have already had their M-Tags installed, with a record 2,069 bikes tagged in the last 24 hours alone. Additionally, a total of 238,080 vehicles have received their M-Tags so far. Irfan Memon further appealed to the public to support the M-Tag campaign, emphasizing that registration processes for bikes and online taxis are continuing separately. The primary goal of these initiatives is to make travel within the city safer for all residents.
