KARACHI – The death toll in a tragic traffic accident on the M-9 Motorway near Kathore has reached 14, police confirmed on Saturday. The accident occurred near Ansari Bridge when a high-speed passenger bus veered into the wrong lane and collided head-on with an oncoming oil tanker. Several other vehicles were also involved, sustaining significant damage. Initially, 13 people were reported dead and six injured. Rescue officials later confirmed that one of the injured, a three-year-old boy identified as Imran, died during treatment, raising the total fatalities to 14. Five others remain under hospital care. Police said that 12 of the victims belonged to the same family. The bodies will be handed over to relatives after completing legal formalities. The relatives reported that the victims had travelled from Kotri to Karachi to attend a wedding ceremony in Shah Latif Town. The accident occurred while they were returning from the event. According to the authorities, the collision was caused when the high-speed bus traveling in the wrong direction struck the oil tanker. The Motorways Inspector General has ordered a detailed investigation into the incident.
