ECC okays release of Rs19 billion for PM’s Ramzan Relief Package

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Thursday approved the immediate release of Rs 19 billion for the Prime Minister’s Ramzan Relief Package 2026. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, chaired remotely by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the ECC meeting approved the release of said amount to ensure the timely disbursement of assistance to vulnerable families. The remaining requirement out of the proposed Rs25 billion will be released as and when necessary, in line with fiscal space. The Committee emphasised balancing swift relief delivery with strong financial oversight and noted that any unutilized funds would be surrendered in accordance with established procedures. The Prime Minister’s Ramzan Relief Package 2026 is designed to provide targeted cash assistance to low-income households during the holy month of Ramzan, using National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) data to ensure transparency and objective beneficiary selection.
