England thrashed Sri Lanka by 51 runs in the Group-II Super Eight match of the T20 World Cup at Pallekele on Sunday afternoon. Chasing a 147-run target for victory, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bundled out for 95 in 16.4 overs. Skipper Dasun Shanaka was the top scorer, who made 30 off 24 balls, hitting one four and two maximums. Kamindu Mendis contributed 13 off 11 balls, and Dunith Wellalage and Maheesh Theekshana 10 each. No other batter could enter the double figures. Player of the match Will Jacks bagged three wickets and Jofra Archer, Liam Dawson and Adil Rasheed two each, while Jamie Overton took one wicket.
