Fazl, Naeemi visit Iran embassy, condole assassination of Khamenei

Amir of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazlur Rehman (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, on Tuesday visited the Embassy of Iran to expressed deep sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Maulana Fazlur Rehman who was accompanied by Senator Kamran Murtaza and senior leaders of his party met Iranian Ambassador Ali Reza Moghaddam and his team and conveyed heartfelt grief and sorrow over what he described as a “tragic and irreparable loss” for the Muslim Ummah. He also offered condolences over the killing of Khamenei’s family members, including his spouse, daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. In the attacks orchestrated by the US and Israeli air forces jointly, several senior Iranian figures, including former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the country’s defence minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, Secretary Defence Ali Shamkhani; Chief of Staff of Iran’s armed forces, Abdolrahim Mousavi; Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Mohammad Pakpour and other high-ranking government officials, were also among those killed in a joint US-Israel aerial attack. Maulana Fazlur Rehman condemned the incident and called the Iranian leaders’ assassination “huge loss to the Ummah.” He expressed solidarity with the people and leadership of Iran during this difficult time. He prayed for the departed souls and for strength and patience for the bereaved families. The JUI-F chief also recorded his sentiments in the condolence book placed at the embassy. Separately, Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), Allama Dr. Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi, also visited the Iranian Embassy to offer his condolences. Meeting with Ambassador Moghaddam, he expressed deep sorrow over the assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei and other Iranian leaders. Dr. Naeemi described the killings as deeply distressing for the Muslim world and extended sympathies to the government and people of Iran. He emphasized the need for unity among Muslim nations in the face of such tragedies and prayed for peace and stability in the region. Ayatollah Khamenei was not only a spiritual leader of the Shia Muslims all over the world, he was also a symbol of unity and oneness for the Iranian people, said Dr Naeemi. He condemned the murder of the top Iranian figures and described the US-Israel joint attack quite unprovoked and against international laws. The Iranian envoy thanked the visiting leaders for their solidarity and support, stating that such gestures reflect the close ties and brotherly relations between the people of Pakistan and Iran.
