Female students sweep top honours at AMC Convocation

Female students secured the majority of top honours and gold medals at the annual convocation of Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC) held on Tuesday. The highlight of the event was Amna Anwar, a resident of Mandi Bahauddin, who achieved a record-breaking feat by securing 23 gold medals. She was officially declared the Best Graduate of AMC. Other top achievers included Zoha Saleem with 15 gold medals and Tehreem Sana with 14 gold medals, bringing immense pride to the institution and their families. Addressing the prestigious gathering, AMC Principal Prof Farooq Afzal extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduates. He stated that these degrees are a “trust of the nation” and urged the young doctors to utilise their knowledge to serve suffering humanity with dedication. Prof Farooq Afzal remarked that the medical profession is not just a degree; it is a divine calling. He stressed that a physician’s ethical conduct and empathy are often the most effective remedies for a patient. He further noted with pride that AMC alumni are currently serving as Pakistan’s ambassadors in the medical fields across the USA, UK, and Europe. The Principal also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the parents, acknowledging their pivotal role in the success of these new healers. Highlighting the leadership potential of female doctors, he stated that their hard work and dedication prove they are ready to lead the healthcare sector. In a heart-touching gesture, the parents of the high achievers were invited onto the stage to personally present the medals and honours to their children, making the ceremony a memorable milestone for the families involved.
