Former Cricket umpire Rab Nawaz passes away in Lahore

Former International Umpire and Cricket Organiser Rab Nawaz Senior passed away in Lahore after a protracted illness. He was 85. A right-hand batter and right-arm off-spin bowler played two first-class matches and officiated two ODIs from 1982 to 1984. Rab Nawaz made his umpiring debut in a match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 29, 1982 and officiated his last ODI match between Pakistan and New Zealand at the Sialkot Cricket Stadium on December 2, 1984. The Pakistan Cricket Board and cricket fraternity offered deepest sympathies to the family of Rab Nawaz Senior during this difficult time. “May the departed soul rest in eternal peace and may the Almighty grant strength and solace to the family and loved ones to endure this irreparable loss”, reads a statement issued by the PCB on Monday.
