Zubair Yaqoob President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), Atif Ikram Sheikh, emphasized the critical link between law and order and economic prosperity during a reception held at Federation House in honor of Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjhar. Addressing a gathering of top business figures and government officials, Sheikh stated, “Karachi is Pakistan’s economic engine. When roads are safe, industry runs smoothly, and the wheels of commerce turn efficiently.” He credited Minister Lanjhar for demonstrating “steel nerves and political wisdom” during challenging circumstances, calling his leadership a model for public service. The event, attended by Abdul Moheman Khan, Saqib Fayyaz Magu, and Dr. Mian Zahid Hussain, provided a platform for the business community to voice concerns about the security and investment climate in Sindh. Khan expressed gratitude for Minister Lanjhar’s willingness to listen, highlighting a collaborative approach between the government and commerce sector. Sheikh also welcomed the recent appointment of Javed Odho, calling it a “promising step” toward curbing street crime and improving the overall law and order situation in Karachi. He underscored the importance of completing the Safe City Project, asserting that its timely implementation would strengthen public confidence and facilitate safer business operations. The FPCCI president further reiterated the business community’s commitment to supporting government efforts to make Sindh a secure hub for investment. “The commercial sector stands shoulder to shoulder with the government,” Sheikh said. “We are determined to help establish Sindh as a safe and attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors.” Minister Lanjhar, in his remarks, highlighted the importance of creating a conducive environment for business. “We are committed to making Sindh a model province for commerce, regardless of challenges,” he stated. His message resonated with traders and entrepreneurs, many of whom face recurring security and administrative hurdles that impact investment decisions. The event symbolized a bridge between Sindh’s law enforcement leadership and its business community, reflecting a shared objective of stability and growth. Sheikh praised the Interior Minister’s leadership, saying, “Managing the portfolio of interior affairs is never easy, yet Minister Lanjhar has proven his capability through decisive and effective governance.” As Karachi continues to serve as the country’s commercial nerve center, both business leaders and government officials emphasized that peace, security, and infrastructural development are inseparable from economic advancement. The FPCCI vowed to continue dialogue with authorities to ensure that Sindh becomes a thriving and secure environment for business and industry.
