FTO hosts Tanzanian Officials to share Best Practices in Tax Governance

ISLAMABAD – A 16-member high-level delegation from United Republic of Tanzania, led by Tax Ombudsman Mr. Vincent Erastus Mtui, visited Pakistan’s Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Secretariat on an official study tour. The delegation’s visit aimed to gain insights into Pakistan’s tax grievance redressal system, administrative accountability, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. Welcoming the delegation, Federal Tax Ombudsman Zafar Hijazi highlighted the visit as a step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation and sharing best practices in public sector governance. During the tour, Tanzanian officials attended training sessions on complaint registration, investigation processes, implementation of recommendations, and the FTO’s role in promoting transparency and trust between taxpayers and authorities. They also visited the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment and the Presidency of Pakistan to understand the broader ombudsman framework and institutional coordination. The selection of Pakistan by the Tanzanian delegation was seen as recognition of the effectiveness and performance of the country’s Federal Tax Ombudsman system.
