GCWOT’26 showcases historic collaboration between Pakistani universities, global research partners

MÁLAGA – The 8th edition of Global Conference on Wireless and Optical Technologies (GCWOT’26) concluded with great success in Málaga, hosted under high patronage of Embassy of Pakistan in Spain and inaugurated by Ambassador Dr. Zahoor Ahmed. The prestigious event took place at University of Málaga, drawing top researchers, academics, and industry experts from across the globe. The conference was a collaborative powerhouse, featuring participation from major Pakistani institutions including Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology, UIT University, Salim Habib University, and GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences & Technology. It sheds light on collaboration with the EU-funded Erasmus Plus CBHE ACTIVE Climate Action initiative and other global partners. The event became a hub for groundbreaking discussions on wireless and optical technologies, sustainable innovation, and international academic cooperation. On the sidelines of the conference, the Ambassador met Erasmus exchange students from diverse global backgrounds who had recently arrived at the university. Accompanied by trade and investment counsellor Muhammad Ali Asghar, he engaged with students and highlighted the importance of cross-border learning and collaboration. In a powerful address, Ambassador Dr. Zahoor Ahmed underscored the transformative role of international academic partnerships in driving innovation and sustainable development. He applauded Pakistani universities for their strong commitment to global research cooperation and praised the leadership of the University of Málaga for successfully hosting the event. Special recognition was given to the conference’s general and technical program committee chairs for upholding rigorous academic standards, and to Muhammad Zakir Shaikh for his efforts in strengthening Pakistan–Spain research ties. The Ambassador emphasized that initiatives like GCWOT and the ACTIVE Project are vital for bridging Europe and South Asia and fostering scientific solutions to global challenges such as environmental sustainability. The excitement did not stop there! As a special speaker at the Erasmus student welcoming ceremony, the Ambassador inspired international scholars to embrace their time in Spain with enthusiasm, learning, and cultural exchange. He encouraged students to explore research collaborations with Pakistani institutions, particularly in high-impact areas such as climate change, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy, assuring them of continued support for academic partnerships.
