Gold soars in Pakistan as per tola rate climbs by Rs14,800

KARACHI – Gold prices in Pakistan recorded another significant increase for second consecutive day amid upward trend in international market on Wednesday as tensions between the US and Iran have flared up after a Iranian drown was shot down near the US aircraft carrier. The per tola price of gold surged by Rs14,800, bringing the new rate to Rs529,162 in Pakistan, as the buying activity has strengthened. Furthermore, the price of 10-gram gold moved up by Rs12,689 with new rate climbing to Rs453,671 amid fears of further hike in running business week. Gold Climbs Above $5,000 in International Market The precious commodity shot up over two percent in international bullion market where per ounce rate soared by whooping $148 to reach $5,064 days after it lost the $5,000 mark. Silver Prices in Pakistan Today Silver also followed the upward trend with per tola price jumping by Rs109 to settle at Rs9,255 in Pakistan. What the Experts Say Experts said the demand for the safe-haven investment has increased due to renewed geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran despite efforts to talks to end the conflict. On Tuesday, the US military downed an Iranian drone that made an “aggressive” approach toward the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea, according to a statement from the US military. This event occurred amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to facilitate nuclear discussions between the US and Iran. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump issued a warning, stating that with American warships heading toward Iran, “bad things” could unfold if a resolution was not reached.
