ISLAMABAD/KABUL – Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan are at all time high, and Afghan forces claimed launcing fresh wave of retaliatory attacks targeting Pakistani military installations in the volatile districts of Zazi Maidan, Alisher, and Terezi inside Khost Province. The operations, described as part of an escalating military response to ongoing border hostilities, reportedly unleashed heavy gunfire across the frontier. A Pakistani official on the ground confirmed intense exchanges of fire, underscoring the fragility of security along the disputed line. Pakistan’s government responded with a hard-hitting warning, declaring that any further provocation, whether from the ruling Taliban or militant factions, will be met with a decisive and “befitting response.” Authorities stressed their right to self-defense, framing the strikes as necessary to protect national security and regional stability amid mounting unrest. Amid tensions, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued stern message, saying there will be zero tolerance for any collaboration between militant groups and external actors. He condemned activities linked to insurgent networks, describing them as unacceptable threats to peace and security. Military spokespersons went even further, demanding that Afghan authorities make a clear choice—cooperate with Pakistan or align with organizations accused of fueling regional instability, including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Balochistan Liberation Army, Islamic State, and Al-Qaeda. Officials insisted Pakistan’s stance remains unwavering: national security comes first, and any hostile actions will be answered with overwhelming resolve.
