Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has declared that politics based on confrontation with state institutions, particularly the armed forces, is unacceptable and detrimental to national stability. He made these remarks while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the “Malik Muhammad Ali Khan Library” at the Kasur District Bar Association. The Speaker said that even after serious challenges such as Bunyan-un-Marsoos, if political discourse continues to revolve around hostility toward state institutions, he does not subscribe to such an approach. He emphasized that the Pakistani nation cannot be intimidated and will respond firmly to every challenge. Highlighting the current situation, he noted that the country is facing both internal and external challenges, especially in view of the security dynamics along the western border. However, he added that the nation and its security institutions have consistently demonstrated unity and resilience. Undermining Parliament, the judiciary, or the armed forces, he stressed, does not serve the national interest. Political stability, he said, is a prerequisite for achieving sustainable economic and administrative stability. During the ceremony, the Speaker formally inaugurated the Malik Muhammad Ali Khan Library and laid the foundation stone of the Ladies’ Bar Room. Reflecting on his early legal career, he recalled that when he began practicing law, the bar comprised around 300 lawyers, a figure that has now grown to nearly 3,000. He observed that in earlier years even basic facilities were scarce and lawyers worked under modest conditions, whereas significant improvements have since been achieved. He underscored the importance of a strong and coordinated relationship between the bar and the bench for the effective functioning of the justice system. Announcing plans to develop the Kasur District Bar into a model bar, he assured that key issues, including parking and infrastructure, would be resolved. He directed the bar leadership to submit a comprehensive funding proposal within two weeks and pledged that the required funds would be allocated within the current fiscal year. The Speaker further emphasized the need to curb unnecessary expenditures so that resources can be redirected toward the welfare and professional development of the legal fraternity. Concluding his address, he stressed that empowering local governments is vital to strengthening the relationship between the state and the public, noting that a limited administrative structure cannot efficiently manage the affairs of a large province. Strengthening local governance.
