BLOEMFONTEIN – Pakistan Women’s cricketer Sidra Amin has been officially reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first ODI against South Africa on Sunday. The breach occurred under Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which addresses the misuse of cricket equipment, clothing, or ground fixtures during an international match. The incident took place in the 24th over of Pakistan’s innings when Amin, after being dismissed, angrily threw her bat to the ground before leaving the crease. She has been assigned one demerit point for this offense, marking her second disciplinary violation within a 24-month period and bringing her total demerit points to two. Her previous offense was recorded during Pakistan’s match against India in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 on October 5. Amin acknowledged her misconduct and accepted the penalty suggested by Shandrè Fritz, a match referee from the Emirates ICC International Panel, which eliminated the need for a formal hearing. The charge was filed by on-field umpires Kerrin Klaaste and Nimali Perera, with Lauren Agenbag as the third umpire and Stacy Lackay serving as fourth umpire. Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct carry a minimum sanction of an official reprimand, a maximum fine of 50% of the match fee, and one or two demerit points.
