India beat Zimbabwe by 72 runs in a Group-I T20 World Cup Super Eight match in Chennai on Thursday night to keep the hopes of reaching the Semis alive. Chasing a challenging 257-run target for victory, Zimbabwe managed to reach 184/6 in the allocated 20 overs. Opener Brian Bennett was the top scorer with an unbeaten 97 off 59 balls, hitting eight fours and six maximums. Sikandar Raza contributed 31 off 21 balls, laced with two fours and as many sixes. Tadiwanashe Marumani made 20 off 20 balls and 11 off six balls. Arshdeep Singh bagged three wickets, and Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel and Shivam Dube took one wicket apiece. After being asked to bat first, India set a mammoth total of 256/4 in their quota of 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma was the highest scorer for India, who made 55 off 30 balls, hitting four fours and as many sixes. Player of the match Hardik Pandya made an unbeaten 50 off just 23 balls with the help of two fours and four maximums. Tilak Varma contributed an unbeaten 44 off just 18 balls, hitting three fours and four maximums.
