Iqra School, Doctors Medical Centre among 94 sealed in Lahore

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 94 illegal commercial buildings and the premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and Lahore’s various housing schemes on Tuesday. LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 25 buildings in Shadbagh, 14 in Gulberg, 30 in Johar Town and 25 in Subzazar Housing Scheme and on Defence Road during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees. The sealed premises include Iqra School, Fatima Grammar School, Sweet Ways Public School, Musab Medical Complex, Doctors Medical Centre, Model Eye Clinic, Zeela’s Beauty Salon, grocery stores, pharmacies, café, restaurants, offices, and other businesses. Meanwhile, LDA’s enforcement teams demolished two structures in Samanabad for violations of building bylaws. LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations. LDA’s enforcement and security teams carried out these operations with the assistance of the Police and heavy machinery. According to the LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings before carrying out these operations. LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against violations of building bylaws, encroachments, illegal commercial use and non-payment of commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and Lahore’s housing schemes.
