ZUBAIR YAQOOB Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Karachi, Akbar Eisa Zadeh, said on Friday that Iran has the legal and diplomatic right to defend its sovereignty, accusing the United States of conducting negotiations through intermediary countries while simultaneously deploying naval forces in the region. Speaking to journalists at the Iranian Consulate, where media representatives had gathered to offer condolences over the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Zadeh alleged that the United States and Israel had launched a unilateral attack on Iran in violation of international law. He claimed the attacks resulted in the deaths of many civilians, including 168 children. Responding to questions, the consul general said the assault marked the second time Iran had been subjected to what he described as a surprise attack. He said Iran would continue fighting until its objectives were achieved and maintained that Tehran considers it its right to target American and Israeli assets wherever they are located. Zadeh also accused both countries of targeting civilians and criticized the United Nations for what he described as silence over the alleged aggression. He said Muslim countries had also failed to meet their responsibilities at a critical moment. “The objective of the enemy is to divide the Muslim world,” he said, urging Muslim nations to demonstrate unity and solidarity. The envoy said the conflict had been ongoing for eight days and accused the United States and Israel of dominating the media narrative. He also criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump, alleging that his statements claiming Iran had been destroyed were part of negative propaganda. According to Zadeh, public morale in Iran remained high and daily life was continuing normally despite the conflict. He also expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s support for Iran’s position and for condemning the alleged aggression. He thanked Pakistani religious scholars and citizens from different walks of life who had spoken in support of Iran, saying rallies held in Pakistan had boosted the morale of the Iranian people. When asked about reports of an attack on the Israeli parliament building, Zadeh said he had heard about the incident but did not have confirmation regarding the extent of the damage.
