Iran’s Missiles: Range, Types, and Strategic Reach amid war with US, Israel

During the last decades, Iran advanced its missile program, assembling a broad range of systems with estimated strike distances from about 300 kilometers (186 miles) to as far as 2,500 kilometers (1,553 miles). These include short-, medium-, and intermediate-range ballistic missiles, along with cruise missiles. Systems including the Raad-500, Shahab-2, and Fateh-313 are believed to reach around 500 km. The Quds-1 is estimated at 600 km, while the Ya-Ali and Zolfaghar extend to approximately 700 km. The Qiam-1 has a reported range of about 800 km. Further up the scale, the Qadr 380 is thought to reach around 1,000 km, and the Shahab-3 approximately 1,300 km. The Kheibarshekan is estimated at about 1,450 km, with the Emad extending to roughly 1,700 km. In parallel developments, the United States has stated it will continue conducting wide-ranging air and naval strikes against Iran. Officials in Israel have described their military operations as efforts to counter what they characterize as an “existential threat.” Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, said Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was alive, adding that this was true “as far as I know.” Israeli military has also indicated that air raid warnings were activated in several areas following the detection of missiles launched from Iran.
