Is There a Secret Plot to bring Israel to Pakistan’s doorstep amid Iran War?

ISLAMABAD – Defence Minister Khawaja Asif raised eyebrows with his statement on Israel’s attack on Iran, saying Middle East crisis could threaten regional security in Pakistan, alleging that a calculated effort will expand Israeli influence toward borders of Pakistan. Asif claimed that the ongoing hostilities, particularly the war involving Iran, form part of a broader scheme aimed at destabilising Pakistan by fostering hostile conditions through neighbouring states such as Afghanistan and India. He urged national unity and highlighted Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities and military strength as critical safeguards for sovereignty. The minister went further, warning that external forces seek to surround Pakistan with adversaries and reduce it to a weakened state. He credited the bravery of the armed forces and the sacrifices of national heroes for Pakistan’s defensive capabilities, insisting that the country remains prepared to protect its borders amid growing uncertainty in the region. However, former diplomat Maleeha Lodhi pushed back against these claims. While acknowledging concerns over the Iran-Israel conflict, she argued that discussions about Israeli influence in South Asia lack relevance and risk inflaming tensions. Lodhi also criticised Pakistan’s participation in a US-led peace initiative associated with Donald Trump, questioning Washington’s actions in the region, including the killing of Ayatollah Khamenei. She maintained that Pakistan must focus on pragmatic diplomacy rather than sensational narratives. The comments from senior diplomats show deep divisions within Pakistan’s political and diplomatic circles as the Middle East crisis intensifies, raising questions about regional security, alliances, and the broader implications for global stability. All-out military assault may not topple Iran’s entrenched regime, report warns
