ISLAMABAD – An Islamabad district court on Friday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas in a case involving the alleged misuse of a diplomatic passport. Judicial Magistrate Murid Abbas was hearing the case at the District Court Islamabad. The proceedings pertain to allegations that Sardar Tanveer Ilyas unlawfully used a diplomatic passport. During the hearing, the court ordered law enforcement agencies to arrest Sardar Tanveer Ilyas and produce him before the court. The order was issued after the former AJK premier repeatedly failed to appear before the court despite multiple summons. The court observed that Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’s continued absence obstructed the judicial process, leaving the court with no option but to issue non-bailable arrest warrants. The matter has been adjourned until February 23 for further proceedings. The official records showed that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has already registered a case against Sardar Tanveer Ilyas in connection with the alleged misuse of a diplomatic passport. The investigation is currently underway, and further action would be taken in line with the court’s directives. The court officials said that the next hearing would depend on the execution of the arrest warrants and the production of the accused before the court.
