Islamabad, Pakistan weather: Rain likely in upper parts, warmer days in plains

Intermittent rain is predicted in the upper parts of Pakistan on Friday evening and night, as well as on Saturday and Sunday. Synoptic Situation: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a shallow westerly wave will likely approach the extreme northern parts of Pakistan tonight. Forecast: Under these conditions, mainly dry weather is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of the country, while cold/ partly cloudy in the hilly areas on Friday evening and night, as well as on Saturday and Sunday. However, light rain-thunderstorm with light snow over high mountains may occur at isolated places in north Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Day temperatures are likely to remain above normal in plain areas. Temperatures: Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 12°C and 14°C on Saturday and between 13°C and 15°C on Sunday. Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 16°C and 18°C on Saturday and between 17°C and 19°C on Sunday. Past Weather: Dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Cold weather prevailed in the upper parts. However, light rain/drizzle occurred at a few places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Day temperatures in the plains remained above normal. In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 13°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 85 per cent. In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 17°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 56 per cent.
