Cloudy weather with light to moderate rains and isolated hailstorms is predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Monday evening and night and Tuesday. Snowfall is also expected in the hilly areas during the forecast period. Synoptic Situation: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave is affecting the western parts of Pakistan, which may persist over the upper parts till tomorrow. Forecast: Under these conditions, cloudy weather with light to moderate rains and snowfall over the hills is predicted in northeastern Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Pothohar region and central Punjab on Monday evening and night. Hailstorms may also occur at isolated places during the period. On Tuesday, light to moderate rain with snowfall over the hills is predicted in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Potohar region. Dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country. Impacts: Snowfall is likely to cause traffic disruptions & slippery conditions in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galiyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch and Haveli. Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the period. Temperatures: Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 05°C and 07°C on Tuesday and Wednesday. Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 08°C and 10°C on Tuesday and Wednesday. Past Weather: Cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Freezing weather prevailed in the upper parts. However, light rain occurred at isolated places in northeastern Balochistan. Rainfall (mm): Samungli, Pishin 06, Quetta, Sibi 04, Ziarat 02, Dalbandin 01 Leh remained the coldest place in the country, where the temperature dropped 09°C below the freezing point. Minimum temperature in Astore was recorded at -07°C, in Kalam at -05°C, and in Gupis, Malam Jabba and Skardu at -03°C. In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 08°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 87 per cent. In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 08°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 76 per cent.
