Islamabad traffic advisory – THESE roads to remain closed

ISLAMABAD – Police in capital city have announced road closures and traffic diversions in the Red Zone to ensure smooth movement during upcoming events on Friday (6 March 2026) amid potential threats. Only the Margalla Road and the Marriott Hotel routes will remain open for access to the Red Zone. All other entry points to the area will be closed. In addition, Kalsoom Plaza on Fazal Haq Road towards China Chowk will remain closed for traffic. Commuters are advised to use Jinnah Avenue as an alternative route. Traffic towards Polyclinic from Lal Quarter Chowk on Luqman Hakim Road will be diverted, with President Road suggested as the alternate route. Commuters traveling from G-6 to F-6 are advised to use the China Chowk underpass or Seventh Avenue to reach Jinnah Avenue. Traffic heading from Abpara Chowk towards Serena Hotel via Suhrawardy will face diversions. Vehicles coming from Club Road are advised to use Kashmir Chowk via Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, and Margalla Road. Similarly, traffic from Bhara Kahu should follow the Kashmir Chowk route via Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, and Margalla Road. Authorities have urged commuters to follow these alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
