Kenadex, Nifen among 10 Medicines Banned in Punjab; Check List here

LAHORE – Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has declared 10 widely used medicines including life-saving drugs, substandard and immediately banned their sale in Punjab. Samples of these medicines were sent to a drug testing laboratory, where results showed extremely poor quality in 10 medicines. The banned drugs include treatments for allergies, heart diseases, skin infections, cold and flu, and eye problems. Substandard medicines in Punjab The allergy medicine “Dizi” was declared substandard, which is used for allergy sufferers. The heart-attack risk-reducing drug “Ascard ” was also deemed harmful to health. Skin infection treatment “Kenadex” has been banned. Cold and flu remedies “Cepizine” and “Rozen” are now prohibited. Eye drops “Nifen” were found substandard. Even an injection for fine veins of hands and feet has been added to the list of defective medicines. Investigations revealed that these drugs were manufactured at pharmaceutical facilities in Karachi’s SITE Area and Manghopir, as well as Lahore’s Sindh Industrial Area and Raiwind Road. DRAP confirmed that all sales and usage of specific batches of these medicines are banned, and further legal action and inspections are underway. Authorities are urging the public to immediately stop using these medicines and check the batch numbers before purchase.
