Khyber Pakhtunkhwa weather: Rain, snowfall likely in upper parts

Light rain with snowfall over the hills is likely in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday and Saturday. Synoptic Situation: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave will likely approach the western and upper parts of Pakistan tomorrow (evening/night). Forecast: Under these conditions, cold and dry weather is likely in Peshawar and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday and Saturday. Partly cloudy and freezing weather is likely in the upper districts. Light rain with light snowfall is likely at isolated places in Chitral, Dir, Kohistan, Swat and Kalam. Fog (in patches) is likely to develop over Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar and adjoining areas during morning hours. Temperatures: Peshawar’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 02°C and 04°C on Friday, between 03°C and 05°C on Saturday, and between 02°C and 04°C on Sunday. Past Weather: Cold and dry weather prevailed in Peshawar and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours. Freezing weather prevailed in the upper districts. Kalam remained the coldest place in the province, where the temperature dropped 08°C below the freezing point. Minimum temperature in Parachinar was recorded at -06°C, in Malam Jabba at -04°C, and in Dir at -03°C. In Peshawar, the minimum temperature was recorded at 4.5°C.
