Rains with isolated hailstorms are likely in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday and Tuesday, with occasional breaks. Snowfall is also likely in the upper districts during the period. Synoptic Situation: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave is likely to approach the western parts of Pakistan tonight. It is expected to grip the upper parts tomorrow and may persist till February 10. Forecast: Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is likely in Peshawar and most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday night. Freezing weather is expected in the upper districts. On Monday and Tuesday, rains with isolated hailstorms are likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Kohistan, Bunner, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Peshawar, Swabi, Charsadda, Kohat, Kurram, Bannu, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan, with occasional breaks. Snowfall is likely in the upper districts during the period. Impacts: Snowfall is likely to cause traffic disruptions & slippery conditions in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, and Galiyat. Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Temperatures: Peshawar’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 06°C and 08°C on Monday and Tuesday, and between 05°C and 07°C on Wednesday. Past Weather: Cold and dry weather prevailed in Peshawar and most districts of the province during the last 24 hours. Freezing weather prevailed in the upper districts. Kalam remained the coldest place in the province, where the temperature dropped 07°C below the freezing point. Minimum temperature in Malam Jabba was recorded at -03°C, in Dir at -02°C, and in Chitral at 0°C. In Peshawar, the minimum temperature was recorded at 07°C.
