Defending champions Lahore Qalandars on Thursday announced directly signing Bangladesh player Mustafizur Rahman for the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League. The star pacer, picked at Rs60.44 million this year, was part of the Lahore Qalandars in 2016 and 2018. “Our Bangladeshi brother, picked in 2016 and 2018, is now our direct signing and finally back with the family. Once a Qalandar, always a Qalandar”, reads a post shared by Lahore Qalandars on micro-blogging platform X (former Twitter) on Thursday. Release of Mustafizur after signing by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders drew a strong reaction from the Bangladesh Cricket Board. The BCB approached the International Cricket Council (ICC) with the request to shift their T20 World Cup 2026 matches to Sri Lanka due to security concerns. However, the ICC rejected the request and replaced Bangladesh with Scotland. Expressing solidarity with Bangladesh, Pakistan has allowed Green shirts to take part in the T20 World Cup but not to take the field in the match against India on February 15.
