KARACHI – Gold prices in Pakistan witnessed a sharp single-day decline, falling by Rs8,600 per tola to settle at Rs519,962, compared to Rs528,562 a day earlier when rates had remained unchanged. The price of 10 grams of gold also dropped significantly by Rs7,373 and closed at at Rs445,783. In the local market, silver followed the same downward trend, shedding Rs501 per tola to reach Rs8,324. Internationally, gold prices declined by $86 per ounce to $4,972, including a $20 premium, which contributed to the drop in domestic rates. The weakening global trend continued to exert pressure on the local bullion market. Earlier, on February 4, gold was priced at Rs529,162, and on February 3 it stood at Rs514,362 per tola. The price of 21-karat gold per tola was recorded at Rs449,750 while the per gram rate stood at Rs38,559. For 10 grams, the rate was Rs385,595, and per ounce it was Rs1,092,892. The continued volatility in global bullion markets has kept investors cautious amid fluctuating precious metal prices.
