LCCI urges energy, taxation reforms, ease of doing business

President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Faheem ur Rehman Saigol, stressed the need for urgent measures to control rising energy rates, rationalise taxation, and improve the overall ease of doing business (EoDB). During a meeting with former President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Shariq Vohra, on Monday, he emphasised that reducing industrial costs and streamlining regulatory processes are essential to strengthen Pakistan’s industrial competitiveness and boost exports. The discussion, prompted by Vohra’s visit, focused on key economic challenges, including circular debt, export of skilled labour, and electricity pricing. Saigol underlined the importance of inter-chamber cooperation and practical policy recommendations to facilitate industrial growth and create a more investor-friendly environment. He reiterated that coordinated efforts, policy reforms, and financial relief measures are critical for improving the business climate, enhancing industrial productivity, and positioning Pakistan as a competitive destination for investment and trade. Vohra stressed the need for collaborative strategies between chambers to support the business community and ensure sustainable industrial development.
