LESCO Chairman presents performance outlook report to Leghari

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), Aamir Zia, has presented the company’s Performance Outlook Report (July 2024 to December 2025) to the Federal Minister for Energy, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari. According to the report, the company achieved overall savings exceeding Rs138 billion. Transmission and distribution (T&D) losses were reduced from 15.8 percent to 13.4 percent. The complaint resolution rate surpassed 95 percent, while 40 kanals of valuable urban land worth approximately Rs800 million were recovered from illegal occupation. Financial analysis revealed that approximately Rs36 billion in savings resulted from reduced losses, Rs25 billion from improved billing and recovery, and Rs77 billion from procurement reforms. Progress was also made toward reducing circular debt through modernization of a Rs1 trillion revenue system. To strengthen institutional governance, four years of audited pending accounts were cleared. An investment policy covering more than Rs150 billion in funds was implemented, and senior-level appointments were made on merit. Under strategic planning initiatives, work is underway on a three-year business plan for fiscal years 2025–2028, complete GIS mapping, and the integration of AMI and APMS systems. In terms of operational performance, the company reported record loss reductions among distribution companies (DISCOs), a recovery rate exceeding 100 percent, and an effective anti-power theft campaign in industrial and high-risk areas. Supply chain reforms led to a 32 percent reduction in the cost of single-phase meters and a 47 percent reduction in three-phase meters, resulting in estimated savings of Rs6.1 billion per million single-phase meters and Rs1.04 billion per 50,000 three-phase meters.
