LESCO to issue new electricity bills to solar users for January 2026

LAHORE – The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has decided to reissue electricity bills for January 2026 for customers who installed solar systems under the net metering project. The company had previously removed export units from the bills following directives from the Power Planning and Monitoring Company (PPMC), which led to customers not receiving their due relief. The export units, which account for the electricity sent back to the grid, were not included in the billing, resulting in customers facing difficulties. To rectify this, LESCO will now reprint the bills, ensuring customers are credited for their exported energy. PPMC has issued instructions to LESCO to apply the correct formula for export units and meter readings to ensure accurate billing. The readings for solar system users were taken on January 20, but the export units were omitted from the final bills. The development comes after it emerged that Distribution Companies (DISCOs) have allegedly stopped billing for exported units. These are the excess electricity generated by consumers through solar panels and fed back into the grid.
