Man arrested for playing obscene videos on advertising screens in Karachi

KARACHI – The police have arrested a man for playing inappropriate videos on a digital advertising screen in the Khayaban-e-Ittehad area of Karachi. Police said the incident occurred on the evening of the previous day, and a case was registered at the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Police Station. The suspect, an employee of an advertising company, was apprehended following the investigation. The complaint, filed by the company’s operations director, revealed that obscene video clips were being broadcast intermittently on the SMD (Surface Mounted Display) screen installed in Phase 8. Upon receiving the report, the company immediately shut down the screen. In response to the incident, authorities took precautionary measures, temporarily shutting down other digital advertising screens along major roads, including the Shahrah-e-Faisal, Korangi Road, and several key thoroughfares in DHA. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter and have vowed to strengthen surveillance of digital advertising platforms to prevent such incidents in the future.
