Matric and Inter Practical System Changed; Check New Changes

2026-02-17 - 14:13

LAHORE – Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore made changes to system for matriculation and intermediate practical exams in a bid to end discrepancies and bring full transparency to the process. Under newly announced system, the written portion of practical exams will no longer be evaluated at examination centers. Instead, it will be marked centrally at the board’s official marking centers, while examiners will now only be authorized to award marks for the practical performance itself. The practical exams have been redesigned to be 50% practical and 50% theory, with examiners restricted solely to grading the hands-on component. According to Lahore Board Secretary, this revolutionary change will address candidates’ complaints and completely eliminate variations in marking that previously occurred at exam centers. Around 4.8 million students take exams across Punjab, with 900,000 candidates appearing from Lahore alone. Officials say that the new practical system will bring unprecedented accuracy and transparency to the results, ensuring that every student’s performance is judged fairly. Adding to excitement, the new matriculation date sheet will be released within just three days, giving students and parents crucial information to prepare for the upcoming exams. This historic reform marks major step forward for education in Punjab, promising a fairer, more reliable examination process that could serve as a model for other boards nationwide.
