KARACHI – Provincial Education Department has officially announced the dates for the annual matriculation and intermediate examinations. The annual exams are set to kick off soon, marking a crucial period for thousands of students. According to schedule, Class 9 and 10 matric exams will start on March 31, immediately after Eid ul Fitr 2026. After short 15-day gap, the intermediate annual exams will start from April 15, giving students a tight window to prepare. The announcement came during a Thursday meeting chaired by Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah, where the Steering Committee also approved the start of the 2026–27 academic session from April 1. With exams just around the corner, the pressure is on for students to finalize their preparations and aim for top results in what promises to be a critical academic season across Sindh. The rollout of Pakistan’s new grading system for matriculation and intermediate exams is facing uncertainty, as the government has not yet issued official notifications. The policy, approved by the IBCC and IPEMC, raises passing marks for Classes IX and XI from 33% to 40% and introduces separate passing grades for each subject. Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad have already started preparations, but without nationwide adoption, universities could face grading mismatches that may disadvantage students during admissions. Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah of IBCC warned that inconsistent implementation could trigger an academic crisis. Big relief announced for intermediate students in Punjab ahead of exams 2026
