Mohsin Naqvi meets Pakistan team ahead of high-voltage India clash

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with Pakistan team management and players in Colombo on Sunday ahead of their high-voltage T20 World Cup encounter against India. Lauding the determination and fighting spirit of players, PCB chairman encouraged the players and conveyed his best wishes for the match against the arch-rivals. Head Coach Mike Hesson, Skipper Salman Ali Agha, Manager Naveed Akram Cheema and all the players and coaches attended the meeting. PCB Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed, Pakistan Super League (PSL) Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer, and Director Media Aamir Mir were also present. So far, both Pakistan and India are unbeaten in the group stage of the tournament. Pakistan registered wins over the Netherlands and the United States, while India secured victories against the United States and Namibia. India currently leads the group standings with four points but a superior net run rate. Pakistan also have four points but a lower net run rate compared to India. They will be facing each other for the first time since their encounter in the Asia Cup 2025 final, which India won with a narrow margin but refused to take the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. In T20 World Cup history, the arch-rivals have met eight times. India holds a commanding 7-1 record, underlining the intensity and significance of one of cricket’s most celebrated rivalries.
