ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved the imposition of fixed charges on all three-phase meter and solar users. The new charges, which came into effect following NEPRA’s approval, will apply to users based on their approved load capacity. Minimum Fixed Charges For three-phase meters, the fixed charges start at a minimum of Rs1,687, with rates increasing according to the approved load. Load-wise Fixed Charges Users with 8 kW load will pay Rs2,700, while those with 9 kW will face charges of Rs3,037. For 10 kW loads, fixed charges will be Rs3,375, and for 11 kW, Rs3,712. Charges will continue to increase, with users of 12 kW load paying Rs4,050, and those with 13 kW load having to pay Rs4,387. Users with 14 kW load will pay Rs4,725, and those with 15 kW load will pay Rs5,062. For users with an approved load exceeding 15 kW, the fixed charges will be even higher. Experts warn that the implementation of these charges is expected to significantly affect users with solar systems, as they will have to bear additional costs. Moreover, residents of private housing societies will also feel the impact of the increased fixed charges. These new charges, which will be included in this month’s electricity bills, are a part of NEPRA’s ongoing efforts to manage electricity consumption and adjust rates accordingly.
