ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz officially inaugurated Punjab Agriculture Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA), a long-awaited initiative set to revolutionize food, drug, and agricultural oversight. During the launch, officials received a comprehensive briefing on the laboratory’s operations, accompanied by a documentary showcasing the extensive reforms and visionary initiatives spearheaded by CM Maryam Nawaz, highlighting years of meticulous planning and execution. Addressing the ceremony, PM Shehbaz Sharif called the establishment of PAFDA—a body for transparent monitoring of agricultural products and medicines—the “need of the hour.” He expressed confidence that the authority would soon emerge as a regional Center of Excellence, setting new standards in quality control and governance. The premier paid tribute to CM Maryam Nawaz for driving crucial reforms, emphasizing the government’s commitment to transparency through modern technology. He lauded the dedication and expertise of scientists and technical professionals, calling their contributions “invaluable.” PM Sharif revealed that PAFDA is designed not just for Punjab but to serve the entire nation. A network of forensic laboratories has been established across the province to provide irrefutable evidence in criminal cases, bolstering the justice system. CM Maryam Nawaz termed PAFDA’s creation as living proof of the government’s dedication to public service. She stressed that Punjab is now on the path to development and prosperity, with digital initiatives already reshaping governance. She reaffirmed that merit, transparency, and accountability remain the cornerstones of her administration.
