Nisab: Pakistan announces minimum threshold for Zakat deduction in Ramadan 2026

ISLAMABAD – The federal government has announced minimum threshold or Nisab for Zakat deduction from bank accounts. It has fixed the Nisab at Rs503,529 for Ramadan 2026, much higher than the previous year’s Rs179,689. People having savings bank accounts, profit and loss sharing accounts and other similar accounts will be charged for Zakat if they have Rs503,529 in their account, Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Security said in a statement. Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth an individual must possess to be required to give this charitable donation. Which Accounts are Exempted? All Savings and PLS accounts with less than the Nisab amount will be exempted from Zakat deduction. Zakat Deduction Date All banks in Pakistan deduct Zakat on the first day of Ramadan, likely February 19 or 20, 2026. If Shaban lasts for 29 days, the first day of Ramadan will fall on February 19, 2026. However, if Shaban spans 30 days, Ramadan will begin on February 20, 2026.
