LAHORE – The Punjab government has made it mandatory for all teachers in public schools across the province to adhere to a professional dress code. Starting from February 23, 2026, all male and female teachers will be required to wear a black gown during working hours to promote a professional, uniform, and dignified environment in educational institutions. According to the new guidelines, teachers will not be allowed to conduct classes or perform any duties without the black gown. The School Education Department has directed all District Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and school heads to ensure strict enforcement of the dress code on a daily basis. This decision aims to improve discipline, establish a credible professional identity, and maintain consistency across the province’s government schools. The move is also seen as a step towards enhancing the education department’s performance and upholding the professional standards of teachers.
