New Metro City Gujar Khan Housing Society scam Hundreds of overseas Pakistanis, pensioners, widows and even handicapped persons appeared at the NAB Open Court opposite Lal Masjid to protest against the New Metro City Gujar Khan Housing Society that had deprived them of their life-time savings around billions of rupees (collectively). These affectees of the fake ‘New Metro City Gujar Khan Housing Society’ shared with media persons how they were robbed by the nephew of the real estate tycoon in the name of allotting plots of various sizes and at different locations. The society was in fact not registered with the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) yet it was allowed to launch an advertising campaign on private TV channels and newspapers thus tempting the citizens to invest their money in its schemes, they regretted. An official of the RDA when contacted said the RDA through newspapers had warned the public to stay away from any illegal housing societies. On Thursday hundreds of affectees submitted a joint application in the NAB to expedite recovery process and start refunding process. After the NAB’s intervention earlier, a refund cheque distribution ceremony was held in September 2025, when refunds against earlier applications were processed. These applicants said they had complete trust in Chairman NAB, an upright God-fearing man who would make sure they too get refunds of their actual investments. He (NAB chief) had assured us that once the earlier batch of applications was completed, the remaining and subsequent cases would also be taken up, said Shamoon Malik and Dr Kashif Riaz coordinators of the affectees. The present application, they said, has been filed in reliance on that assurance. The applicants clarified that even if the society obtains full LOP and NOC approvals at some future stage, they no longer wish to continue their investment. “We seek a refund of our invested amounts as a matter of right,” the appeal states, emphasizing that their decision to withdraw from the project is final.
