RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Peoples Party-Workers (PPP-Workers) senior leader Ibne Rizvi passed away at the age of 65. He was suffering from respiratory problems and had been in the intensive care unit of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) for the last three days.
“Covid-19 had damaged his lungs and another chest infection attacked him last week,” said PPP workers leader Mazhar Hussain. Ibne Rizvi’s wife Raana Rizvi was former MPA.
He was brother of Aun Mohammad Rizvi, former Controller Programme at Pakistan Television Corporation who was killed in 1999 in sectarian violence.
His funeral prayers will be held at Shah Di Tallian Graveyard near Committee Chowk at 1:30pm while special prayers will be offered in Imambargah in Chittian Hattian in his own house. Ibne Rizvi was close to former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and served Incharge of PPP Central Secretariat Islamabad for more than 15 years till the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in 2007.
After the demise of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Ibne Rizvi joined PPP Workers with BB’s political Secretary Naheed Khan and former senator Dr. Safdar Abbasi and was associated with the party til his death.
PPP Worker leader Naheed Khan said that Ibne started his political struggle at the age of 14 and still struggling for the rights of the people. She said that Ibne’s services for the party will never be forgotten.
“When President Asif Ali Zardari was in Jail, Ibne Rizvi was assigned duties to gather party workers in courts and jails by Benazir Bhutto and he performed all his duties with dedication as he was true lover of Bhutto,” she said. Dr. Safdar Abbasi also expressed grief over the death and said that workers were shocked by his death. He said the death was an irreparable loss.
