ISLAMABAD – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday rejected any connection between the Board of Peace and the Abraham Accords, saying that Pakistan will not join the accords. During a weekly briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi explained that Pakistan remains a safe and open country for international travelers. He further clarified that the recent travel advisory issued by the United States is not a downgrade, but an update. Several previous security concerns have been removed, making travel to Pakistan easier for American citizens. Diplomatic channels between Pakistan and the US are actively engaged to address this matter. Andrabi also provided an update on ongoing discussions between Islamabad and Washington regarding the lifting of US visa restrictions. Pakistan is hopeful that it will soon be removed from the visa restriction list, and diplomatic efforts are ongoing in this regard. On Pakistan’s involvement with the Board of Peace, Andrabi reiterated that the country joined in good faith with the goal of stabilizing the ceasefire in Gaza, aiding in its reconstruction, and establishing lasting peace based on the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. He also pointed out that Pakistan is not alone in this initiative; seven other Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, and Qatar, are also members of the Board of Peace. The initiative, which began in September last year, aims to bring hope to Gaza and the Palestinian cause. Andrabi emphasized that for the past two years, the people of Gaza have endured severe destruction and a humanitarian crisis, with UN efforts to halt Israeli aggression falling short. He clarified that the Board of Peace has been approved by the United Nations Security Council and serves as a supportive platform, not a replacement for the UN. Finally, the spokesperson firmly rejected any link between the Board of Peace and the Abraham Accords, confirming that Pakistan has no intention of joining the accords or any international stabilization force.
